Therapeutic Approach

My training at Sofia University, formerly known as the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, has greatly influenced my perspective to be inclusive of all experiences. My role as a therapist is not to judge, but rather, to witness what is attempting to unfold in a person’s life for their betterment and to facilitate the unfolding of their inner knowing or wisdom. I believe all beings are in a process of change, and we are all striving for growth in our own ways. I believe we as human beings may reach critical points throughout our lives that awaken us to the life that our deepest selves wish to live.

I utilize a holistic perspective in my clinical work, recognizing that mental, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual concerns are often intertwined. Thus, I support people in working towards overall health and well-being. I also believe in the power of empathic listening and the transformative potential of an authentic connection between a therapist and client.

My approach is integrative in that I utilize a variety of different methods and tailor them to the needs of my client and what resonates with us both, collaboratively. I draw from traditional and non-traditional approaches to psychotherapy ranging from psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral to humanistic-existential and transpersonal orientations.

These include but are not limited to:

depth psychotherapy, including dream work and active imagination

existential and transpersonal psychotherapycognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)

acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)

mindfulness-based psychotherapy

expressive arts therapy

somatic psychotherapy

visualization and meditation

breathwork and relaxation techniques

ecotherapy

psychoeducation
